<li><b> Once you eliminate viewing other women as competition, you will be a much happier person. </b>Ladies are constantly pitted against one another while our society simultaneously criticizes them for being "catty". What many of us fail to recognize is that girls are taught from a young age to see other women as a threat. And while a little friendly competition never hurt anyone, this kind of rivalry is for the attention of men, which isn't a healthy way to live. Does this mean you have to be best friends with every other girl merely because she is a female? Of course not. You won't get along with everyone you meet, but when you make the effort to stop seeing other women as "the enemy" it is a huge weight off of your shoulders.</li>
<li><b>"Slut Shaming" will get you nowhere. </b>I don't think anyone can honestly make the claim that they have never judged another woman based upon her sex life(or rumors about it), provocative fashion sense, etc. Using words such as "slut," "whore," "skank," etc. to describe women perpetuates misogyny and rape culture. There is no male equivalent for these words, which we never seem to question. The fact that these adjectives are solely feminine objectifies women and when one says them, they are saying women shouldn't have the right to make choices regarding their own body whether that be who they choose to sleep with (or not sleep with) or what they choose to wear. It is also important to realize that <i>slut shaming is a form of bullying</i>. Even if you disagree with a woman's choices, it never gives you the right to put her down for it or call her a derogatory name. Slut shaming is so alive and well in our culture that many young girls have been driven to self harm and suicide because of the vicious bullying their peers have put them through. You aren't helping anyone by calling them a slut.</li>
<li><b>Rape culture exists. </b>I briefly mentioned rape culture above but I wanted to stress how important of an issue it is. Women Against Violence Against Women defines rape culture as "a termed designed to show the ways in which society blamed victims of sexual assault and normalized male sexual violence." So, basically, rape culture tells victims that it is their responsibility to prevent sexual abuse rather than putting responsibility on the rapists themselves. However, it goes much further than that. Rape culture is what causes an absurdly large number of people to question whether or not victims are telling to truth, it is also tells victims they are asking for their assault because of their attire, reputation, relationship to the offender, where they were, whether or not they have been drinking etc. People often speculate as to why many rapes go unreported even though one in every five women will be sexually assaulted <i>at least once </i>in their life time. When someone is faced with the inevitable possibility that they will be torn apart and blamed for a physically and emotionally traumatizing thing that was inflicted upon them, many would rather try to forget than take action against their abuser, but because of this, most rapists walk free. Rape culture also has a negative effect on men because it ignores that fact that men can be victims of sexual assault. In fact, at least 10% of rape victims in the United States are male. Not to mention the fact that it implies men are unable to control their urges to engage in sexual violence against women, like it is in their nature to rape. Because, news flash, it isn't. rape should never be normalized.</li>
<li><b>Having sex for the first time ≠ "losing" anything. </b>For men, engaging in sexual activities is "scoring" while for young women, sex is viewed as giving yourself away, being conquered, damaged, or tainted. Virginity is a social construct that objectifies women and teaches them to internalize the false assumption that they are losing a part of themselves when they have sex. Does this mean that many young people aren't mistaken when they rush into a sexual relationship they aren't physically or emotionally ready for? Hell no. But it is wrong to view young women as sexual objects and expect them to think of themselves as such, or to teach young men it is okay to see their female peers in this way.</li>
<li> <b>It's not just you, your high school dress code really is sexist. </b>I think we all realize that there seems to be a way longer list of what is and isn't deemed appropriate as far as school dress codes go, but the messages it sends are often overlooked. Most of the rules directed towards female students prohibit them from showing off certain parts of their body. This means tank tops, shorts, lower necklines, even leggings and yoga pants, which do cover all of the legs, can be written off as offensive to the dress code because said attire is "distracting" male students and teachers. Not only does this way of thinking turn underage women into sexual objects, but it also sends the message that the girls' education is less important than that of their male peers, because the time missed out of class or embarrassment of being called out, forced to change into a gym uniform (or "highlighter" shirts as my high school loved making us wear, like a modern day "A" on our chests) is much more distracting than the "inappropriate" attire itself. </li>

There are many more insights I've become aware of in my young adulthood but these resonate with me the most. Please comment or share this post if you found it helpful or liked it. Or share your ideas you think I missed out on. I love other people's criticisms. I think I would like to write more blog posts similar to this one, as well as some more beauty ones. Feels good to be out of my writing rut. Have a good day! xx Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12553440920457470575noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1807412377461565161.post-27525112639517982742014-02-06T15:37:00.000-08:002014-02-06T15:37:49.588-08:00January Favorites<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

I know I didn't post anything last week, y'all and I'm sorry I missed my deadline but in all honesty, I wanted to post my first "Little Black Book Club" and didn't actually finish the book yet.... Oops. But this week I thought I'd give you a monthly favorites post so you can see what I've been into so far this year.<br />
<a name='more'></a>1. Naked Skin foundation by Urban Decay<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgGSLe-0mmaPLureI9_NhIo3Jazud0_s9lo6w-KgExtXpWMBZxagLRVFL2IKtNYxm9LZWpmMq2JECN9xFgCmGxvpH15Rvw-gEFr14UFz6HYcb-W6NINFVoHbXJwCzOwnDSVIolfigNPwQ9n/s1600/naked+skin+01.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgGSLe-0mmaPLureI9_NhIo3Jazud0_s9lo6w-KgExtXpWMBZxagLRVFL2IKtNYxm9LZWpmMq2JECN9xFgCmGxvpH15Rvw-gEFr14UFz6HYcb-W6NINFVoHbXJwCzOwnDSVIolfigNPwQ9n/s1600/naked+skin+01.jpg" height="267" width="400" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
I know this foundation has been out on the market for a while now, but I was in a very committed relationship with my Clinique Stay Matte foundation for a very long time, and to be honest, I'm still very happy with that foundation but it my skin has been relatively nice recently and I wanted to try a high end foundation with more of a medium coverage. I'm definitely very pleased that I decided to try this one. It was $39 at Sephora which is $16 more than I usually spend on the Stay Matte. However, this has just the right amount of coverage I was looking for and the shade 01 is a perfect match for my skin. I have received many compliments on my skin and my makeup since I switched to this foundation and I like that I can use a very small amount and it goes a long way, and the coverage does seem sheer at first but it can be built up very nicely. This is the foundation I used in my Elsa tutorial and I was really happy with the way it held up. My skin is oily to combination so I do need to powder my nose after a few hours but over all, this foundation wears very nicely throughout the day and I would recommend it to all skin types if you're looking for a light to medium coverage foundation.</div>

2. OCC Lip Tar in Black Metal Dhalia</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiXS_r9LhrilsmuEbUEqmbbDkO2DR150C4j8tqUpuLkQvzh_L1lFMTcjic6xCmitoGgLh5Kd1MYYU6eLtXZsEJhd1sT5X2LcOUJCYNacyEoM8YgypC9axsusrsy09Zd67hqFDxsaQvPGmTL/s1600/lip+tar-+bmd.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiXS_r9LhrilsmuEbUEqmbbDkO2DR150C4j8tqUpuLkQvzh_L1lFMTcjic6xCmitoGgLh5Kd1MYYU6eLtXZsEJhd1sT5X2LcOUJCYNacyEoM8YgypC9axsusrsy09Zd67hqFDxsaQvPGmTL/s1600/lip+tar-+bmd.jpg" height="267" width="400" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
My grandma bought me a Sephora gift card for Christmas and I spent it on a few lip tars as I'd never tried them before and was a bit skeptical and afraid of them. However, I fell absolutely in love with the product and this shade in particular. Black Metal Dhalia is a part of the Moderncraft collection and is described as a "Blackened burgundy with red pearl" When swatched, it looks like a deep berry color with a lot of red microglitter in it but on my lips it really does lean more towards a dark burgundy, almost plum color. Every time I wear this, someone asks what lipstick I have on and I honestly just feel like I could kill a man when I have this stuff on. Even the name is cool. Everyone should be dying to put this stuff on their mouth, basically.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
3. Bath & Body Works candles</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj0l-cp5FQLs5yT1K-M8-0pde79D2UoJofo-mPyRkWgMkJKpQDr6ghUDCG3gnLyvl2LeRdmsXjWecGSDnTNqxjsRNyw1JLw9WOT-21uprAbG8lFsJ6pFDDpNoqsMD4qEMvJIjCQhxq14gTS/s1600/london+calling.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj0l-cp5FQLs5yT1K-M8-0pde79D2UoJofo-mPyRkWgMkJKpQDr6ghUDCG3gnLyvl2LeRdmsXjWecGSDnTNqxjsRNyw1JLw9WOT-21uprAbG8lFsJ6pFDDpNoqsMD4qEMvJIjCQhxq14gTS/s1600/london+calling.jpg" height="267" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj1ruew_bQhTNHq7G8w9XvTykvlhECsVd-mC3K49T6Z3zm7uLssgepn_mu3xvvuRNeZA1P8IokvhQIGD2_qDiVd3IAHAh0DQyO3iTE2f2Xx8BXnnkQ46nlIep7nicto77uAtENaTKrJ6km0/s1600/mahogany+teakwood.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj1ruew_bQhTNHq7G8w9XvTykvlhECsVd-mC3K49T6Z3zm7uLssgepn_mu3xvvuRNeZA1P8IokvhQIGD2_qDiVd3IAHAh0DQyO3iTE2f2Xx8BXnnkQ46nlIep7nicto77uAtENaTKrJ6km0/s1600/mahogany+teakwood.jpg" height="267" width="400" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
I bought a bunch of candles from B&BW while they were having their after holiday sale and my two favorites scents were London Calling and Mahogany Teakwood. I know everyone and their mother has raved about Mahogany Teakwood and it really does just smell like a really hot, buff manly man which is how I want my space to smell like all the time. However, London Calling(which, lets face it, originally caught my eye because it's named after an album by The Clash) is the most homey, comforting smell. It smells just like a hot cup of black tea and a hint of lemon so it is a nice mix of fresh and cozy. I love to light this candle when I take a bath and want to relax.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
4. "Buy Me A Cameo" nail polish by Essie</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiU67i3_EkUODEzTahhxdl7kIca-ZvzLBXmFV4B3iCaOLEy5aLMXjm0P-aB-G5yWsghhtdlD4iIAAUCMFwEJupNl2W1vQEdvrUeY7EUd4FiYQJzsByeNoEc_otBA0jnD6fhZPNzbxwe9rcu/s1600/buy+me+a+cameo.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiU67i3_EkUODEzTahhxdl7kIca-ZvzLBXmFV4B3iCaOLEy5aLMXjm0P-aB-G5yWsghhtdlD4iIAAUCMFwEJupNl2W1vQEdvrUeY7EUd4FiYQJzsByeNoEc_otBA0jnD6fhZPNzbxwe9rcu/s1600/buy+me+a+cameo.jpg" height="267" width="400" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
I love Essie nail polishes in general but this is lovely rose gold shade, which I know is very on trend right now but it just looks really nice with pale skin, and it wears well. I don't actually paint my nails very often because I have to do dishes a lot at work and it never lasts more than a day or two, but "Buy Me A Cameo" has made me want to have pretty nails more often!</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
5. drop earrings from Target</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEirzT57c9h1rg1_JQLFMqH6eBfk7hfO5FHkbgvZJ83noglo8b5NuuOpD-9B4lxpiZJTOc_P3N86T0JQtjCvISIfde0H0R5x3f_ZoyGVcJR5flM3Rd307QgQMKrAQvpJk25-XeQstvxTGKBG/s1600/earrings.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEirzT57c9h1rg1_JQLFMqH6eBfk7hfO5FHkbgvZJ83noglo8b5NuuOpD-9B4lxpiZJTOc_P3N86T0JQtjCvISIfde0H0R5x3f_ZoyGVcJR5flM3Rd307QgQMKrAQvpJk25-XeQstvxTGKBG/s1600/earrings.jpg" height="278" width="400" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
I have very sensitive ears and my skin doesn't react kindly to any sort of piercings in general so I often neglect wearing earrings because my ears start to hurt after a while, but these pretty little drop earrings from Target look very classy and make me feel more put together on the days where I can't be bothered to do my hair and just throw it into a bun or ponytail.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
6. Kitty mug</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiV2TKAG-KpOUzqUJ0eWQtM27fHvAT8kKAh78b5yb38M50mOhAtydndU5VoOKlRquVxfCB2Tj0vULl2auLhQCjbL2mipzuChpfK3ace6rBDscR24L5MgzY8Ob9KV55M4afBZaawFDkkpWzx/s1600/kitty+mug.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiV2TKAG-KpOUzqUJ0eWQtM27fHvAT8kKAh78b5yb38M50mOhAtydndU5VoOKlRquVxfCB2Tj0vULl2auLhQCjbL2mipzuChpfK3ace6rBDscR24L5MgzY8Ob9KV55M4afBZaawFDkkpWzx/s1600/kitty+mug.jpg" height="267" width="400" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
I got this kitty cat coffee mug for $1 at Goodwill. I like tea and I like cats. Hence favorite.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
7. "Create Your Own Beautiful" brush set</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhLDhEkD6JbPwUpczuWD4o7EnnHEjbnaSDWfzluThn5lv8Ha2aTGQxtQW1447DQEoJlk-gxPj4Ig6Dj_Bck2RssoWsrJ1YzkpiWPZYfflGn8lt3I780FfGyY1bSJnm4-KWYsAzvHKNzI57C/s1600/brushes.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhLDhEkD6JbPwUpczuWD4o7EnnHEjbnaSDWfzluThn5lv8Ha2aTGQxtQW1447DQEoJlk-gxPj4Ig6Dj_Bck2RssoWsrJ1YzkpiWPZYfflGn8lt3I780FfGyY1bSJnm4-KWYsAzvHKNzI57C/s1600/brushes.jpg" height="267" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
<span style="text-align: left;">My grandma got me, my mom, my aunt and cousin all the same set of makeup brushes for Christmas. I'm pretty sure she picked them up at Sam's Club but I haven't been able to find anything about the brand online. The powder brush sheds a bit but the brush I like the most is the angled contouring brush because I've actually been getting a lot more into properly contouring my face and facing my fear of bronzer. The foundation brush is very nice too and I liked it with my Clinique Stay Matte because it is a bit thicker but I haven't been using it as much since I like applying the Naked Skin with my fingers(don't judge me!)</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
<span style="text-align: left;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
<span style="text-align: left;">8. Pentimento's self titled record</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhu8gvTbvGFTPcvTtyNkDbcmAH2Jj8Lg49O7xPpjq2vJPZIRB6zimp6H0ojAVyk3pvLBFgsvGYznpXqXuarTIBMzpZI1k6gBsYGdJ-0YU1vQOj_fithAeEuhZc5u_ansr3zN5s6BbG9ZDzD/s1600/pentimento.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhu8gvTbvGFTPcvTtyNkDbcmAH2Jj8Lg49O7xPpjq2vJPZIRB6zimp6H0ojAVyk3pvLBFgsvGYznpXqXuarTIBMzpZI1k6gBsYGdJ-0YU1vQOj_fithAeEuhZc5u_ansr3zN5s6BbG9ZDzD/s1600/pentimento.jpg" height="400" width="398" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
<span style="text-align: left;">This was actually released back in November 2013 but I've just really been enjoying this album for the past month or so. Pentimento play really good Pop Punkso if you like Real Friends, Turnover or Living With Lions you will probably get into this band very quickly. Actually, you probably already are. But in case you have never given them a listen I will link the Spotify page for this album <a href="http://open.spotify.com/album/5J71oVH6loBWq1ljiCjLH8" target="_blank">here</a>. My favorite tracks are "The Bridge" and "No One Lets You Know." Now go listen to them after you've finished reading this blog post.</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
<span style="text-align: left;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
<span style="text-align: left;">9. "Metal And Dust" by London Grammar</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
<span style="text-align: left;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
<span style="text-align: left;"><br /></span></div>
<center>
<iframe allowfullscreen="" frameborder="0" height="315" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/as5FZJI6xJU" width="560"></iframe></center>
<center style="text-align: justify;">
London Grammar are an Indie group from the UK who I've been super into lately "Metal And Dust" was on their debut album <i>If You Wait </i>which is reallylovely as a whole but this song in particular makes me think that if Ellie Goulding and Daughter had a baby it would be London Grammar and it just gives me all the good feels so I wanted to sort of give it an "honorable mention" so I could give the readers who aren't Pop Punk fans something sweet for their ears too.</center>
<center style="text-align: justify;">
</center>
<center style="text-align: justify;">
9. Timer</center>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjADpjAC71Q1iYyxqfeDaWCQTzM42mjEWYXxcWaw0AaoDqesj8J_9Vx8nPlSbDtmJjLaNw4dQaXOLNOF5N_OPfY_mz8sRlxx5mS9buh-qzt6IgftV0bmWVBAcY7EyTrfrWocJq8TyP19s30/s1600/timer.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjADpjAC71Q1iYyxqfeDaWCQTzM42mjEWYXxcWaw0AaoDqesj8J_9Vx8nPlSbDtmJjLaNw4dQaXOLNOF5N_OPfY_mz8sRlxx5mS9buh-qzt6IgftV0bmWVBAcY7EyTrfrWocJq8TyP19s30/s1600/timer.jpg" height="400" width="212" /></a></div>
<center style="text-align: justify;">
<i>Timer</i> is an indie film released in 2009 that I recently watched on Netflix and I think it puts a really good spin on the more traditional idea of a Romantic Comedy. The film is set in the near future in the United States, where the majority of people age 14 or older have a "timer" planted into their wrist, the timer counts down to the exact moment its wearer will meet their soulmate, but it only works if both soulmates are wearing an activated timer, so when they see each other for the first time, the timers chime and they know they've met "the one." This isn't the best movie I've ever seen but I found the concept very interesting and the message of the film was incredibly insightful and I would definitely recommend it for anyone who likes slightly heavier comedies and binge watching on Netflix. <i>Timer </i>isn't exactly a love story either so I don't think the boys would be too bored watching it, although the most of the primary characters are female. I would give it 3 and a half stars if I had to put a number on it.</center>

I hope everyone is having a good snow day off of school, and if you did still have class or work today, I'm sorry! Since I've taken a semester away from school and I was off of work today, I decided to brave the cold to photograph a little outfit of the day for you guys. I don't necessarily feel comfortable "reviewing" albums because I always feel odd telling people if a piece of music is good or not. In my honest opinion, if anyone likes a song, <u style="font-style: italic; font-weight: bold;">it is good</u>, it just may or may not necessarily be something I want to listen to myself and I wouldn't want to discourage anyone who read my blog from supporting a band or an artist because they don't make music that suits my personal preference. Taking that into consideration, I've decided to simply "suggest" music I've been particularly enjoying throughout the month because I'd rather waste my tiny, insignificant space on the internet exposing people to bands I really enjoy rather than to bash the latest Robin Thicke single.<br />
<a name='more'></a><br />
<br />
Some "Jordyn Suggests" posts will be like this one, a simple Spotify playlist which will allow y'all to click and skip around and see just what I've been into while others will be more in depth. If I attend a particularly killer show or a band I really like releases a record I've been highly anticipating, you can expect something a lot more content heavy, but since this is the first one, I felt a simple playlist should suffice.<br />
<br />
<br />
<ul>
<li><i>Please note that the songs are not ordered according to how much I like them, I just always arrange playlists to be heard as a "whole" so I like to order tracks whichever way I think makes them sound best together.</i></li>
</ul>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
Enjoy!<br />
xx<br />

<div style="text-align: justify;">
Now that it's a new year, I can safely say that Disney's <i>Frozen </i>was one of my favorite films of 2013. I typically enjoy all of the princess movies regardless but I fell absolutely in love with Elsa. Though her younger sister is <i>Frozen</i>'s lead protagonist, Elsa, voiced by the phenomenal Idina Menzel, absolutely steals the show. Unlike many other Disney heroines, Queen Elsa has an intentionally "made up" look, which I think is really refreshing because she is also older than the other princess and Elsa is also the only one who possesses magical abilities aside from talking to animals. I feel the animators paid the character a lot of respect by styling her in a plum toned smokey eye and bright lips because she is truly unique in comparison to other female Disney characters. The look is very smoldering and intense because she is a cartoon character so Elsa's features are quite exaggerated. However, I think this could be a very wearable evening or special occasion look, and it was surprisingly simple and fun to recreate!<br />

Because Naked Skin has light to medium coverage, I used my Cover Girl fresh complexion concealer(fair) to spot conceal and to brighten up the dark circles under my eyes. Usually I'd contour my face a bit with bronzer, but because Elsa is exceptionally pale, I decided to skip that step and applied the blush from my Stila artist series Impressionist palette, to the apples of my cheeks. Elsa always looks flushed as if she's just come in from the snow, so any cool toned pink or plum blush should do the trick. To create the illusion that my skin is as luminous as Elsa's I used an ungodly amount of highlight. I dusted Physician's Formula Glow Mineral Pearls (translucent) on my cheek bones, the bridge of my nose, forehead, chin, and cupids bow. </div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjPiVX4A258xkG1ntRe5BPeZtiQ2BrTZo70qezo_IiaNUwfw96gk7hdXe71bLOi45hcEUHpjZ_0N-m_0sHOJD3apMvT5-YYjkGX-xXd5nFbDASBPXMHMgvyYde3zU8gLg4uS290Dpz4AAe3/s1600/eye+steps.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjPiVX4A258xkG1ntRe5BPeZtiQ2BrTZo70qezo_IiaNUwfw96gk7hdXe71bLOi45hcEUHpjZ_0N-m_0sHOJD3apMvT5-YYjkGX-xXd5nFbDASBPXMHMgvyYde3zU8gLg4uS290Dpz4AAe3/s1600/eye+steps.jpg" height="400" width="400" /></a>Next, It was finally time to start on the eyes. I used shadows from my artist series Impressionist palette by Stila and the Violet Femmes quad by Maybelline, but any lilac. , plum and burgundy shades will create the same effect. I primed my eyes with a purple creme eyeshadow by Almay and then packed the lilac shade from my Stila palette all over the lid with a fluffy brush. next I used the same brush to apply the darker plum shade from the same palette into the crease. After that, I applied the dark burgundy shade from the Violet Femmes quad directly into the crease and the outer "V" of my eye. I also used the burgundy shadow to line the outer thirds of my lower lash line. For a brow and inner corner highlight, I went back to the Impressionist palette and used the pearly white color to make my eyes appear wider. I also tight lined my upper lash line with the darkest, almost black shade from the Violet Femmes palette and my lower lash line with a white eyeliner by rimmel. To finish the eyes, I created an exaggerated cat eye with my Stila Stay All Day liquid eyeliner and two coats of Clinique's High Impact Mascara.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
The last step in this look was the lips. In some scenes, Elsa's lips seem more of a lighter pink tone and in others they are a bold fuschia shade. So I used a Cover Girl lipstick in "Embrace 335" to recreate her more dramatic look. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">

<i>Hello, everyone! As the weather has turned colder, I've made quite a few changes to my makeup routine. Autumn and winter are my favorite time of the year, as it is much more appropriate for me to wear a vampy lip without looking odd. I realize this look may be quite heavy to some, but I have rather oily skin and in order for my makeup to hold up through my entire shift at work, these are the steps I take to achieve a simple but somewhat glamourous every day face</i><br />

For the eyes, I applied a bit of the cream eyeshadow by Benefit all over the lids to serve as a base. Next, I packed the shade "Snobby" directly onto the eyelid. I then took a fluffy brush and picked up the shade "Sultry" and applied it to the crease in windshield wiper motions as a transition color. Then I took the same fluffy brush and added "Silly" to the outer corner, blended up into the crease and to the outer thirds of my lower lash line. Finally, I took the shade "Sassy" on a clean fluffy brush and applied it to my brow bone and the inner third of my eyes. I then lined my lower lashline with my Stila eyeliner and smudged it out before applying a small cat eye winged liner to my upper waterline with the L'Oréal liquid eyeliner. Last, I curled my eyelashes and applied two coats of Maybelline Mega Plush Mascara bot the upper and lower eyelashes. </div>

<div style="text-align: justify;">
Hello, everyone! This year I've decided to go pretty low-budget with my wrapping and I'm pretty impressed with the turn out. I know I am not the first one to think of using magazine clippings to wrap gifts, but I thought I'd share my method of going about it. I've found that magazine pages are perfect for wrapping smaller presents and it is a way to make even the presentation of the gift more personal to the person who is receiving it. This is a really simply diy and anyone who has wrapped presents before should be able to get a handle on it. I'm not the best wrapper myself and I am still very happy with the final result of this little project. As I mentioned, choosing the wrap a gift in a specific newspaper, magazine or whatever you choose, gives you the chance to make it more custom to the receiver than traditional wrapping paper. It is also cheap(or free! I only used supplies I already had around the house!) and good for the environment. So, let's get cracking!<br />
<a name='more'></a></div>
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhkZ0RSDZ0-gKYwUHr85LyusVGepgypv6q0DTbTgGT22eypRd8bTVgcWKhxLZ7wsrByEpn6T8WKy38uFYFmE8q7Qc2qKUOmF5sQm2-ZiUlFVqaVZFgvozcdvOCiMx3ke9t_5ppa7WZNwyqp/s1600/SUPPLIES.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" height="200" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhkZ0RSDZ0-gKYwUHr85LyusVGepgypv6q0DTbTgGT22eypRd8bTVgcWKhxLZ7wsrByEpn6T8WKy38uFYFmE8q7Qc2qKUOmF5sQm2-ZiUlFVqaVZFgvozcdvOCiMx3ke9t_5ppa7WZNwyqp/s200/SUPPLIES.jpg" width="200" /></a><br />
<b><u><br /></u></b>
<b><u>YOU WILL NEED:</u></b><br />
<ul>
<li>Presents(duh)</li>
<li><span style="text-align: center;">Magazine pages (I used newsletters from Sephora and Modcloth)</span></li>
<li>Scissors</li>
<li>Clear tape</li>
<li><b>Otional: </b>Small gift boxes & ribbon(I got 3 for $1 at Target)</li>
</ul>
<div>
<span style="text-align: justify;">Then all you have to do is choose which pages you want for each gift and start wrapping just as you would with traditional wrapping paper! Since one of my presents was an unusual shape and didn't come in its own box, I simply placed it in a small gift box and decorated it with a red ribbon.</span><br />

And there you have it! feel free to decorate the wrapped gifts with ribbons and bows, I didn't have enough ribbons when I did mine but will be adding them later. I hope you guys liked this post, I've never done anything like it before! For another little wrapping tip, I separated the three Soap & Glory body butters so I could add them on the three people's gifts instead of giving them all to one person, but I kept the box so I could stick a couple extra surprises in one of them. I'm really happy with the way my gift wrap ended up looking so feel free to comment with any other input/ ideas!<br />

<div style="text-align: justify;">
2013 has definitely been a huge year for music; I for one am particularly astounded by the diverse variety of records I've acquired over the past year. I must admit, I am especially impressed with a few albums in particular, however, it was still difficult to narrow my list down to 13. 2013 also held a few blunders in the music world that left me mildly disappointed(Dear Fall Out Boy, why did you do that thing you did!?). Nevertheless, for the sake of keeping this blog post form becoming a monotonous novel, I am going to keep the list of my favorites short and sweet. I will also link a Spotify playlist featuring my favorite tracks of the year from each album. Thanks for reading! Feel free to comment below with your music favorites as well!</div>

I had a pretty lazy day today aside from stopping into work for a couple hours and having a dinner date with my best friend so I kept my makeup relatively simple. This isn't a "fresh face" or "no makeup" makeup by any means, but it is a very wearable every day look for <i>me</i>. Copper shadow, plum lips, a peachy coral blush and of course, a lot of black eyeliner winged out inter an intense cat shape. If you're interested in the products I used, I will have a full list below. I used a combination of both drug store and high end products so I thought this would be a very achievable look to blog since most of these products are available to almost everyone. I use most of these products on a daily or almost daily basis. Hope you liked this post and I'll catch up with y'all later!</div>

In case you've been living under a rock, Perma, the amazing side project of Max Bemis (Say Anything) and Sherri Dupree-Bemis(Eisley) released their debut album, <i>Two Of A Crime</i> in late October and it may possibly be the best thing that has happened to my life in the past month. It's basically 11 tracks of mushy, lovey dovey goodness and let me tell you, this couple sounds absolutely stunning when they sing together. It's too much to handle. My personal favorite on the album is <a href="http://open.spotify.com/track/0Fjvvy5QVt6oCljFobpTf1">"The Bat And The Cave"</a> followed closely by "Torch Song." Give it a listen if you don't suck.</div>

As a result, I've taken it upon myself to start this blog to create a separate identity from my "tumblr self."<br />
<br />
I honestly have no idea what is going to come out of this, but my goals are to update this blog at least twice a week. It might be an album review, outfit of the day, or just a post on something I've been digging or something that's been on my mind.<br />
<br />
So, without further adieu, welcome to my new blog. Hope y'all enjoy it.<br />
